Hi All

Got a quote from Rentech for the above. the service is a 24k service, and the car is 5 years old. He has quoted me £569.66 inc VAT. Is this a good deal or shall I look elsewhere?

Is it important to get the cambelt done my a Renault specialist? As I can get it done by my local garage who I know and trust for about £250.

Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers.

Ren-tech come very highly recomemended. Mike is an ex-renault mechanic so knows his stuff. Price is about the going rate i think, but quite abit cheaper than renault.

I have heard good things with them, but I would have to travel from Reading and wait the entire day to have it completed. Almost £600 is a lot of money.

Try Carlton Garage in Exmoor. I used them for 172 phase 1, very good. They deal with 172 and other RS and area a renault specialist. They were recommended to me by a number of people.

They are very competitive. IMO I would only get someone that has done a lot of 172 cambelts as I have heard bad things if people do not know or have done one before. I would use a specialist everytime !

I use to work with Mike at Linington's Renault and he is the best man for the job,
I lost count of the 172/182 Cambelt's he done whilst I was there.
Also remember it's a 5 Hour job just for the Cambelt change alone.
