Hello there ,
Pools of diesel fuel in the cylinder head casting "wells" around the injectors.
had it checked for recall mods for the injector unions, all ok (they say at the citroen garage).
Also a strong smell of diesel coming into the car when stood still, small amount of diesel ending up on the road..
This whole thing only started to happen when I had the cambelt changed at 87500 miles at the Citroen garage, does anyone know what would have been disturbed to change the cambelt on this HDI engine, so that I can check for leaks in pipes etc ?.
Regards
Fred

Fred , just coincidence i would say .What "normally" happens is that one of the unions on the fuel rail cracks and then it sprays diesel everywhere . Cheapest solution second hand rail from a breakers .

The oil in those casting wells is a common fault. Don't think it's diesel related (probably engine oil from the cam cover gasket slowly seeping??), and ALL the 306 Hdi's I went to see to look at (3), my own, and my brothers have these pools of oil!

Not sure about the smell though. I think there are O rings all over around the fuel filter area connections etc, so maybe check them for leaks at higher rpm?
