Can I change the filter without needing to bleed the system after. The local Citroen garage says yes but I'm not sure. If it's OK, how is it best done. The filter casing has arrows on top to open or close but doesn't seem to have any movement when I gently tried it.

On another point I changed the oil & filter and there seems to be two similar sump drain plugs, a black one immediately above the bottom one. Does anyone know what the top one is for?

Thanks

John

Hi there, what year is this 306? If its got bosch injection system, all you need do after changing the fuel filter is turn the igniton on and off 3 to 4 times, whilst checking for leaks, if its siemens (has a hand primer), Its best to bleed it.....

For what it takes (not even 5 mins) just leave the pipe off the fule filter housing, and if its got the hand primer bleed it through..

some 306 90s shared the same sump as a 206 HDi 90, the sump bung was mounted further up....peugeot couldnt be arsed to take the bung out and instead just put a lower one onto the same sump to go into some 306s....

cheers
