Yes it has a DPF, but it doesn't need AdBlue adding as not a Euro 6 compliant engine.

So will this need to be regenerated.I used to work for a Mercedes commercial dealer and the trucks used adblu right from the off with the Sprinter and Vito getting DPFs much later and i can still remember the sound of Sprinters having the nuts revved out of them to get them up to temp for the regen which since i do mostly short journey's may make this unsuitable for my needs.

It should do a regen itself when needed, though it won't always be able to finish. For reasons I've never understood, cars don't have a 'regen' light to show they need to do one, or are doing one.

Regular longer trips running up to full temp and at a higher rpm for a bit will help. If you are always doing short journeys I agree a petrol car might be a better bet.

I used to work on these many years ago and never came across any regen issues with them. If the engine is in good health with no faults and your drive cycle is varied with some longer journeys you shouldn't any issues.
