Puretech 1.2 engine
Discussion
To my knowledge it's still a wet belt, but if they have indeed swapped to a chain I wouldn't think that it's a good thing.
Most new chain driven engines have, or have had issues with chain wear and stretch, tensioners failing, guides failing (looking at you VW and BMW). So the chain is still a consumable, but a more expensive one. I'd take a belt engine over a chain engine any day of the week.

The new Hybrid versions are chain driven but the non hybrids still have a wet belt. The latest version of the belt has reduced problems significantly but it is critical that the correct specification oil is designed and that it is changed at the intervals stated by the manufacturers.
