Renault Megane - Identify this part please

Renault Megane 2012 1.5dci
TLDR: - What is the part in the pictures please.
I could really do with the collective knowledge and assistance of the PistonHeads experts here.
I have been trying to fault find an issue with the car and during my investigations I have noticed this part.
It that looks as though it should/could have a vacuum hose connected to it. I have had a 'rummage' but can't find any pipes that seem to be unconnected however it is on the lower part of the engine and access is limited.
The part is towards the bottom of the right hand side of the engine, below the throttle body and vacuum pump. AFAICS All vacuum pump hoses are accounted for and nothing else seems to be missing. I did manage to get a picture and the nipple is open and not blocked.
I have tried to look at engine diagrams but it really doesn't seem to be shown. I am convinced that it is something to do with the EGR valve/anti pollution system but non of the diagrams seem to show this bit. Really hoping that the fine people of PH can help.
As this has been up a while without any comments I thought that I would try and get some better pictures in the hope that it help
