I’m driving a Citroen C3 in Spain this week, think it’s a 2008-ish model. There’s a button near the mirror adjustment that I’ve been pressing but I can’t tell what it does…

It doesn’t dip the wing mirrors, it’s too old (and cheap!) for auto parking, I’m at a bit of a loss!

Any ideas?

[Itching] Your dash needs a detail with a detailing brush and APC.

It's a 2008, as a shedist I suggest a poundland paintbrush and some Tesco All Purpose Cleaner

By the looks of it that's a current model C3, which came out in 2016, not a good advert for the car that you thought it was 2008

But as has already been said, its lane departure warning.

A quick search yielded the following info:

<quote>
This system, using a camera which recognises solid or broken lines, detects the involuntary crossing of longitudinal traffic lane markings on the ground.

If the driver's attention drops and the speed is higher than 37 mph (60 km/h), the system triggers a warning if there is an unexpected change of direction.

This system is particularly useful on motorways and main roads.

Activation/deactivation via this button or the touch screen, depending on version.

The indicator lamp comes on when the function is activated.

The state of the system is memorised when the ignition is switched off.

Detection

If an unexpected change of direction is detected, this warning lamp flashes in the instrument panel accompanied by an audible signal.

No warning is transmitted while the direction indicator is activated and for approximately 20 seconds after the direction indicator is switched off.

Malfunction

In the event of a malfunction, this warning lamp flashes on the instrument panel for about 10 seconds then goes out.

If Citroen had a sense of humour it would trigger a warning on the dash that says "Please do not press this button again".

As they don't it's probably Lane Departure or some such.

Thanks all, I did wonder about lane departure but thought the car was too old. To be honest the 2008 guess was me thinking it’s about as good as my 2008 Astra (hardly a ringing endorsement!) , if it’s the latest model that’s shocking.

It’s my father-in-law’s car and spends 10 months a year sat in a compound near an airport so will never be cleaned too a decent standard unfortunately. Plus it would look really out of place being clean in Spain! They don’t look after cars like we do it seems.
