I've been shopping for a sporty runaround for me/the wife to do 3-4000 miles a year and obsessing over the classifieds. Thought I'd found a glitch in the matrix when I discovered the Citroen DS3 Racing which seemed to be a lot of car for the money - £6200 for a nice 85,000 mile example.

However, the one thing I'd overlooked was the glare in my wife's eyes when she told me whatever daft car I decided needed to be reliable. I've since stumbled across a couple of Facebook posts and note that the DS3 Racing's engine is not exactly known for it's bulletproof reliability...

Is there any precautionary measures beyond the obvious I can take to ensure it's longevity? Any Citroen / French car specialists in Buckingham / Bicester / Banbury area that people would recommend?

Our car is on it's original engine (AFAIK - sounds like quite a few had to have replacement motors) and did have the engine "de-coked" in 2018 circa 20k miles ago.

Lovely thing to look at and I loved the drive home, but I'm now having a mini panic and cursing myself for not doing my research first! I was set on a new ST3 until I stumbled on the DS3R and fell in love with the rarity and garish looks.... frown

I know nothing about them first hand but the prince engines dont have a great rep, were used in minis for a little while, lots of problems in those to.

Do like a DS3 tho but the best engine for reliability they do in them is a DV6 dag dag, which is saying somthing!
