Hi
Can anyone recommend someone who refurbishes rear axles for 106 GTI?
Was hoping to have my own rear axle (that is still on my car) refurbished.
Will consider the other option of another refurbished axle, but have been warned of inferior parts being used by some companies, so very wary.

I have been advised that refurbishing rear axle is best option, as o/s/r trailing arm has severe play and n/s/r has minor play.

Many thanks

When I had my workshop I used these guys http://abaxles.co.uk/en/about/
Fully recon`, ready to fit, delivered to your door. They will even collect the old axle. Don't even think about repairing the axle yourself.

Thank you for replying.
I actually had my car booked in with these guys to refurbish my rear axle next week but they’ve cancelled the appointment.

Lost their locum mechanic, so they have cancelled all axle work. Pretty gutted as booked it in over two weeks ago, arranged time off, accommodation, etc whilst work was going to be done.

Some people have recommended IM Axle. So may have to go down this route for my mechanic to fit.
Just all such a pain as so many logistics arranging this and other work that needed doing.

I tried contacting Stef but his Facebook post says - “axles are taking a back seat”

Why do you say don’t use imaxle?

poor quality parts, and they aren't really engineers. it'll be a bit of a bodge job. Certainly mine was.
