My city runabout 2008 Citroen C1 is leaking coolant. The car is on 92k miles. I'm going through about 1 litre for every 10 miles driven (the average trip I use it for).

My local garage is very good however they can't look at it until 4 May. I have zero mechanical skills before anyone suggests getting some spanners out!

From sources online it looks like these cars hold about 4 litres of coolant so even after an average trip there's still a decent amount in the system. How robust are these cars to running with low coolant, albeit topped up after every drive, or am I going to screw up the engine?

I use the car pretty much every day so hoping I can make it work with regular top ups but not wanting to wreck the engine. There is public transport available..

Where is it going?
Can you see a leak/wet area under the bonnet or underneath?
Have you checked the oil (dipstick and/or filler cap) to see if there is water in the oil? (It will look like a creamy emulsion sometimes described as milkshake).

On my garage floor is where its mostly going biggrin
It looks like there's water all along the bottom edge of the radiator. Oil thankfully still looks fine and nothing amiss with the filler cap or dipstick. Despite its age and mileage it's been a very well looked after car and otherwise runs like a dream so I'm keen not to ruin it..but also keen to avoid 2 weeks of the bus!

I just had a look at my daughter’s 107 and the top and bottom hoses are easily accessible.
If the leak is from one of these or from the hose clamps then I would try and change them myself.

If you are unable or the leak os from the radiator itself then be careful using it as a small leak could very quickly become a big leak and leave you stranded at the roadside.
Continuing to use it and frequent topping up should be okay, it is a question of how lucky do you feel!

This will be a rotted radiator - easy job but definitely not a "no spanner skills" level! Stupid mounting design for the radiator imho which makes it a much bigger job Ryann it needs to be to change.
