Renaultsport Clio 200,Water in cylinder 3
Discussion
So last Monday I took my clio out on a pretty rainy Monday. Started to develop a misfire above 2k. Got the car home fine, came out the next day and was able to drive around no issue.
Come Saturday and taking the car down a slip road to join a dual carriage way, pushed it fairly hard and the misfire returned. It was pretty bad, again managed to get it home but it stank.
Got it looked at this week and found to have water in cylinder 3 and a rusty spark plug. I don't remember driving through any puddles and the fact that it's just one cylinder makes me think water is leaking in somewhere.
I can't figure out where though, scuttle panel is a bit grimey but fine and draining. It had rained last niebut when I check the engine bay this morning it was bone dry.
Anyone seen this before?

common problem on the Twingo RS. If it is raining, or you've washed your car, the water drips through the scuttle panel under the rubber seal. Lift it up you should see a join between two bits of metal. that's where it leaks, and then drips into the spark plug well.
Seal it with rennzoil or something and it should be ok.

Thanks i will have a look, seems the Clio has sound deadening there where the twingo doesn't but never know. I have seen some on another forum suggesting it's from the Washer jets due to no sound deadening on the bonnet on the 200 so i will check to see the state of the that and the pipes.

A well known issue with these Clio's water jets so hopefully a simple fix. While you are there clean out the scuttle drains as they get blocked up easily and you end up with water sloshing around and if it gets really bad starts to submerge the wiper motor.Gassing Station | French Bred | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
