RENAULT GRAND ESPACE 3.5 V6 MARK IV

Good morning everyone,

I'm new here on PistonHeads so please bear with me.

I have just bought myself a Renault Grand Espace 3.5 V6 Mk IV and I have a few issues I would like to share with you all:-

1) Rear Windscreen not working (front one work perfectly),
2) Rear Windscreen Washer not working (front one works perfectly),
3) Sat Nav not working (screen not coming on),
4) Can't seem to find the Stereo (as in radio),
5) CD Player not working (I have 2 x Remote Controls),
6) Cigarette Lighter (near Start/Stop Button) not working.
7) Recent Alternator and Battery change. But when I first got the car I noticed that the clock was flashing with the wrong time (which normally happens after a recent battery re charge or new battery installation). I reset the clock and the flashing stopped. A couple of days later, I noticed that, although the correct time was now displayed, the temperature number (2 degrees centigrade) was flashing. Could this be battery drainage???

Any advice on how to solve all the above problems would be greatly appreciated.

Apart from the above issues, this car is an absolute beast (what with the lovely 3.5 V6 lump under the bonnet) and a pleasure car to drive.

Temperature display is flashing to tell you it is freezing outside. Nothing to do with the battery.

It's hidden in the centre storage compartment, right?

A Renault Espace with electrical issues, well I never!!!

Sorry OP, can't add any practical help, but buckling into the thread for the ride. I secretly love these but am frankly scared of owning one because of said issues. Interested to see how you get on.

Hi everyone,

I'm back with another query regarding the Renault Grand Espace 3.5 V6 Mark IV

It's a possibility that I may have to get an ECU (I'll keep you all posted) as the stereo and the built in Sat Nav are the only things that are still not working on my car.

1) Can an ECU be reprogrammed, reset or remapped to perform like a brand new one??
1) Can an ECU be bought brand new or second hand???
2) Where can I get an ECU from???
3) How easy is an ECU to come by???
4) Would a faulty ECU slowly drain the battery???

Your help and advice would be greatly appreciated.
