I was driving home in my GTI today doing about 35 going from 2nd to 3rd when the throttle suddenly jammed open. I dropped the clutch followed by trying to lift the throttle pedal with my foot which didn't work so I shut the engine off all in the span of about 2-3 seconds. The engine is from a ZX and has one of those big twist throttles, I realised it was partially jammed and felt like it was stiff so I arranged to have it picked up, just as I was fitting the tow rope I went to check it and the throttle felt fine all of a sudden, I started it up and drove it at about 15mph and it didn't jam again so being less than a mile from my house we agreed to drive it back and have the tow car follow me. Driving home the car felt like it was misfiring, I dropped the clutch and revved it up to about 4k to listen for the misfire and it stopped, i got home and the driver in the tow car told me it was smoking blue when I first set off which cleared, it hasn't smoked since and doesn't seem to be misfiring. I checked the plugs which are about 100 miles old and one is lightly covered in soot at the end whereas none of the others are, the car has always run a bit rich but I don't like that one plug was black after being told the car had some blue smoke for a short period.

Why would it smoke blue for a short period and then clear? It has a rev limiter and only bounced off it for 2-3 seconds before I shut the car off. No sound of any rod knock, no piston slap on start up and doesn't sound tappety. It pulled fine after the misfire went away and seems to be running fine, it also doesn't seem to have been using oil since I got the car. The air box has been loose and had come away when I opened the bonnet, the dipstick top has also been snapped off which is why the car hasn't been driven, the only reason for driving it a couple of miles today was to test the alignment after fitting new wheels and tyres. My thoughts are maybe it sucked a bit of oil in after being shut off from redline or that maybe a bit of oil went through the inlet, but it sounds like it smoked more than a bit of oil through the inlet.
