Renault Captur Rip Off Prices

This is a screenshot of an invoice of one of my wife's colleagues who took his car to a well known UK wide car dealer network based in Scotland (PH name and shame rules must be obeyed). This was not one of their franchised dealerships, this was one of their car supermarkets.
The car is a 2017 Renault Captur 1.5 diesel (he thinks!).
Expensive tyres obviously.
Brake pads are made of gold obviously. Still got 5mm.
The aircon service - whatever that means - is dearer than BMW obviously.
Brake fluid change using the most expensive fluid in the world obviously.
Fuel treatment required as diesel at the pumps must no longer contain all those additives obviously.
Now Kwik Fit are/or were well known for taking your pants down but this is sublime on another level. Just checked Euro Car Parts for Brembo pads with today's discount on sale for the astronomical sum of £48.74. 1 litre of Pagid DoT4 brake fluid £12.99 before discount.
As this is a supermarket, not a dealer, and Euro Car Parts is a mile along the same road, I'd be fairly sure that's where the parts came from.

Fitted prices. Ridiculously over the top. Brembo pads for £50 and 30 mins to replace. At say £80 p/h that's a total of £90. With all the wheels already off a brake fluid change is again 30 mins max.Edited by N7GTX on Sunday 14th March 12:45

The prices for the actual work are what they are, yes 150 for pads is a bit sharp but not that crazy.
The one thing I do object to is the other unnecessary inflations, AC doesn't need servicing unless its not working, brake fluid after 3/4 years will be fine for a daily and 20 quid for some snake oil.
They are all at it mind you.

If you read the thread you will see that the parts are from Euro so they will likely be the same as Billy Bobs down the road. Probably Eicher
Its an absolute rip off. Fuel treatment? What for? All diesel is to the same min standard which is perfectly good for run of the mill diesels. If you use branded fuel then they have additives in anyway. So you are paying twice!!!
Aircon service? Perhaps they regassed the system and called that a service. Bet they did not change the receiver drier which is part of an aircon service.
Brake fluid change is a simple job. The wheels will all have been off for rear tyres and front gold plated brake pads. 30 mins tops.
If you are happy to pay a non franchised dealer those prices for cheapo after market bits, then carry on. No wonder the motor trade has such a bad name.

FWIW, I serviced the owner's brother's car today as it happens, and he asked me what I thought about it. Like his brother he has very little knowledge of these matters so he wants to know what is reasonable and what isn't. He also wants to find a garage that wont rip him off. If you want to defend this rip off then there is something seriously wrong within the motor trade as it looks like this is becoming the norm.
I have not looked at the parts used but as I have seen Euro vans delivering there I am confident of my 'speculation'. As there are no other motor factors in this area of a size capable of servicing this car showroom then I'll stick with what I said.

When the Abarth dealership said they could replace my tires for £80 a corner I laughed to myself and politely declined.
When they said we can do your Aircon again I didn't get upset I just said no thank you.
Finally when they said my bill was £208 for the basic service and the same service with broadly the same parts is £178 on a 500. I thought hmm nice little tax hike BUT they're down the road and £30 isn't worth the hassle of going elsewhere to not get the main dealer servicing.

Don't ever look at Mercedes service and maintenance prices - you'll have a heart attack!My Discovery failed it's MOT on one tyre. They offered to change it for over £300.
I declined and took it to some bloke who worked out of a muddy field surrounded by old Defenders.
Same Pirelli tyre for £100 fitted.
Ok, he didn't have a space station style waiting area with impossibly beautiful young women offering coffee but I was far happier saving myself £200 on a bloody tyre

I was chatting to a VW dealer service manager and he said some of the fixed prices VW have are considerably lower than he wanted to charge.It's gone up a lot now but only a few years ago VW had £299 cambelt change price for the basic petrol engines - the local popular indie said it wasn't worth him doing them for that price.
