Renault Clio Mk3 Auto Dying revs on start-up

Girlfriend has a 2004 Clio Auto. Starts okay but when putting it into Drive - before moving off - the revs drop drastically. It feels like it's on the point of stalling. After a few minutes of letting it idle it's fine. I don't think it stalls once it's been driven and you come to a set of lights etc.

I know nothing about Clios but have read they can suffer from faulty ECUs. Would this be a sign?

My old 54 plate clio had this issue when I had it. It was just the temp sensor that needed replacing from what I can remember.
