Renault Clio 1.2 16V MK2 - Opinions?
Discussion
The 1.2 engine is a bit underpowered, but for a city runabout it's fine. I owned a Mk3 1.2 16v for over 3 years and had no problems relating to the engine whatsoever. I hear coil packs tend to go on these, but they are cheap to replace.
The Mk2 Clio is a reasonably solid car without any rust issues. I've had two Mk2s (a 1.6 8v and a 172), and apart from wheel bearings and rotting exhausts not much went wrong. The scuttle drains get blocked easily, and sunroofs leak, so a damp smell should ring an alarm bell. But all in all, they're quite good.
