Hi all,

Im in abit of a dilemma i cant decide between the two cars above. I know people will say go and test drive them and find out but until i have the time to go out and look for potential buys id like to find out people opinions and to rest my brains from constant back and forths of which to look for.

Clio is of course more nibble and is NA excellent handling. Currently drive a clio 1.2 tce so will be the same size and dimensions just a faster car.

Second is megane which for then 180 tce GT 2010 i cant find much about this car on forums only initial press release material online closest car to me is around 2 and half away so cant really get up go to dealers for test drive on this hence my main reason for the post.

Is 180 bhp which is a detuned version of the 250 as ive heard and being the GT is a sportier chasis with it being “developed” by renault sport as a warm hatch apposed the hot hatch which is the 250/265.

Any one have or driven the 180gt?

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

The 180 is quite underwhelming, it’s basically the RS engine detuned in a standard Megane body, there’s nothing special underneath.

They’re pretty rare because not many people bought them, I sold a Dynamique in silver and a GT Line in blue, I can almost recall the numberplates because they were so rare.

The better car was the GT that came along in 2015 IIRC which was 220bhp, looked and drove better.

The Clio 200 is a much better car IMO, I’d have a cup chassis car though, much better to drive. They do feel a bit old now though, especially inside.

I have read that the top end of the 180s is like a deisel where the power just cuts off but i reckon a remap would sort that right out plus being a turbo would see better gains.

I would love a cup pack but couldnt live with the teeth chattering and spint rattling stiffness my area and surronds dont have the best roads lots of pot wholes everywhere plus i wouldnt do any track days so non cup would be better for me. Prefer some what better comfort i used to have an evo which was horrendous on bumps so dont want a repeat of those feelings lol

The cup chassis on the Clio really isn’t that bad, but it is harder for sure.

The Megane 180 is a lot cheaper, worth the money. They’re not exactly cheap on fuel or tax but not many 2.0 turbos are!
