Anyone got any views on these? I looked at a 15 plate 20k mile. Golf TSi DSg last week, wanted £12500 for it but mpg was barely 38mpg so decided to pass.
Have found a local 308 as above and its the same price (slightly less actually) for a 2018 plate with 10k on! I like the looks of them (apart form the tiny steering wheel) they get good reviews and there should be enough space for my needs. And mpg is supposed to be one the best for a car in this class too.

Pesumably the depreciation is a bit of a killer on these? If its £12,300 already? When I come to part/ex in 4 or 5 years it'll be worth about 2k. Ouch.

Grateful for any thoughts really.

The PureTech is one of the best small engines on sale at the moment, and as far as I know they're not known to be problematic. You should get comfortably above 40 MPG with it in normal daily driving. The 308 is also a handsome car, and my experience is that the build quality is on a par with the Germans. I haven't sampled the gearbox, but I've heard that it's not too bad, although not as fast as a DSG. I'd probably go for the manual, although it's got a bit of a sloppy feel, as a lot of PSA boxes do.

I had the manual version as a courtesy car while my 308 GTi was being serviced.

I was very impressed. It was much more comfy than my GTi and for general driving it didn't feel much slower. Yes, when you put your foot down it didn't take off in the same way, but round town or cruising on the motorway it was fine.

Take it for a good test drive to make sure you like the driving position.
