Question for a friend - Megane door handle insert
Discussion
Inside the exterior handle for a Megane there was a plastic cap in the door body (not the handle lock cover) Someone it appears has removed this from my mates car, and he’s asked if it could be someone trying to break in.
I don’t know what this plastic cover is there for, or what’s behind it. I don’t have a Megane that I can look at, and neither will I be seeing him soon either.
I’m hoping you guys maybe able to help me out,
Thanks Tom

Just to add that I had a megane (2003 Dynamique) and that had the plastic covers but no keyless entry/start. They were just plastic covers.
I have the same on my Clio (2008 RS 197) and those sense when your hand is placed behind the door handle and unlocks the car
Unless it's keyless and there are no wires that have been ripped, a replacement part is all that's needed (Breakers should have them)

It's the proximity sensor that senses when your hand is 'in' the door handle and as long as you have the keycard on you, the doors unlock.
Not sure why anyone would remove it though, is it a desirable model of Megane?
If you don't have the handsfree function on the car then it is just a blanking plate. Not sure why anyone would remove it though, is it a desirable model of Megane?
