Any Twingo drivers out there?
Discussion
We are thinking of changing our car and the Renault Twingo GT is on our shortlist. About the only real concern is that with the engine under the boot area and the heat this causes, it would not be the ideal place to put the shopping, especially iffy items like chicken, fish etc. But if the engine is in the back, what's under the bonnet? I assume stuff like the battery, washer bottles etc are there, but is there any storage space? Thanks.

Clarkson quite liked it.

I had a regular new Twingo (the 75 PS 1.0l) as a rental in France. Absolutely loved it. Has loads of space for such a small car (it felt more spacious than my mk2 Clio, and definitely has more room in the back seats), it's quite comfortable, and the fuel economy was impressive, even though I drove it mostly in town and on B-roads. It handled as well as you'd expect, and the tiny turning circle never gets old. It was rather slow, but completely adequate. A GT with 35 more horses I imagine would actually feel quite brisk.

We've got a 64 plate Twingo. There's no storage space under the bonnet. As you say, its just the battery and washer bottle etc.
The boot is quite a safe place to put shopping. We've never had a problem with ice cream etc on a 20 mile trip home at 60mph. Most of the heat from the engine escapes out the underside of the car. The boot isn't particularly huge. You'll get a few bags of shopping in there, but as it is a 4 door, you can shove stuff on the back seats quite easily.
