peugeot 407 coupe
Discussion
hi guys, newbie here, i have just purchased a 2007 407 coupe, 2.2 se, absolutley love it, but just need a couple of things clearing up, is it meant to have 28" floppy wipers both sides, the only reason i ask is because when i was driving it home it started to rain, and when the wipers came on, (i was doing about 75 on the motorway) they started smacking each other, didnt do it at 30,40 50 etc but it did it when cruising at 70-75, to the point where one flipped up after hitting each other and i had to pull over, are they too big or at least is one too big and could i change it to maybe a 26", my other question is may parking sensors dont work, i knew this when i got the car but is there an easy way to find out why thay dont work, i understand that they plug in sepratley, would one sensor breaking knock all the other senors out , regards nic

Maybe they need to be paragraphed so they can coexist happily on the screen without running into eachother? Not sure about the parking sensors - bumped for the next reader
Friends tell me this is the place to go with questions on french cars.

thanks for the replies, if they needed to be paragraphed then surely they would hit each other at the other speeds but they are not, ive checked that i cant move them on my own and i cant so it cant be the linkage, are they supposed to be 28" each side, if so can i just put a 26" on the passenger side, also how do i get them paragraphed if it is the case

Have you tried adding a return break? This might help interrupt the unbroken flow that is causing the issue.Caz32 said:

There is no linkage between arms in a 407, each blade has its own motor and crank, they are controlled by an ECU.Caz32 said:
return break ??? how do i do that, sorry as you can guess im not all that up on cars i just drive them lol
In order to do the paragraph modification you’ll need to first do a couple of return breaks. It’ll make things much simpler to understand in the long run if you do. Lots of love to you too.
28” is the right size for your wipers, if they’re hitting, that would suggest one is out of alignment with the other in terms of resting position.
My suggestion would be to take off the wiper arms & activate the mechanism, so that the motors spin freely.
Then I’d re-fit the wiper arms, making sure they’re set in the correct resting procedure.
The above is an excessive paragraphing technique.
As to the parking sensors, I’m no expert, but i’d suggest removing the bumper to get at them & checking with a voltmeter.

thanks fredclogs, im no good with cars, but i bought this one with the parking sensor problems(not really bothered is they work or not) but the wipers are pi##ing me off, i got this car really really cheap, only £800, with fsh, 107,000 on the clock, new cambelt water pump fitted etc, so i think i got a bargain, even with the faults,

The French do some pretty cool cars now and then (Citroen DS, Renault GTA etc), I'm actually quite a fan of the 407 CoupeEdited by Caz32 on Thursday 30th November 20:24
Hope you get your issues sorted
With regards to the parking sensors, turn the ignition on and put the car in reverse and go roud to each sensor and put your ear very very close to them. Working parking sensors should make a faint clicking noise. With some sensors you can feel the clicking if you touch them very faintly when they are operated.
Usually if one sensor is broken then none of them will work at that end of the car.

Spoke to a French (Citroen) friend tonight.....
He says you are just guessing at the faults if you do not hook the car up to a "lexia" system via "Peugeot Planet" software as these French cars need very specific Code readers for anything other than the engine ECU's (that off the shelf kit does not read)
