So my R26 has failed the m.o.t on the headlight beam being too low. The tester chap said it was missing the arm on the front wishbone which regulated the self levelling system.

I had noticed that the lights seemed a bit low.

So I bought the part (£140!!!) and had it fitted but I think it is the same as before.

Whilst it was up on the ramp I noticed that the one on the rear beam is also missing the arm, which seems odd. We moved it manually whilst on the ramp but it made no difference to the beam aim.

Also it seems that the lights do not do the usual automatic Xenon auto levelling cycle thing when turned on for the first time.

Any ideas?

Had the same problem on my Clio. Did away with the automatic levelling and simply adjusted the aim manually, pocketing the £140 quid.

Open the bonnet on top of each headlight there's an adjustment screw. Turn until the beam is correct.
