Hi guys,

Just thought I would post on here to see if anyone knows where I can find a couple of things for the Renault Alpine GTA I have. The car is supposed to be going away for paint tomorrow, with the paint shop wanting to take the glass out for the best job. The glass work is bonded however and I can't find anyone who would touch it seeing as the glass parts are so expensive (if you can find them at all). The glass is surrounded in parts by rubber seals which could be removed but will probably break due to the age. I would love to know if anyone knows where I could source a new set of seals for the car. The other parts I'm looking for is a cracked headlight cover (the bonded part) and also a cracked rear light.

Sorry if its a bit long winded but if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Luke.

First of all, well done for owning such a cool car. Always loved these.

I suggest getting onto the owners club sites, there are usually a few people there who will be able to help.

How much is a glass out repaint on one of these?

Are you committed to the paint shop you've found.

There is a specialist with a name like RATS which stands for something like Renault Alpine Technical Services who I've seen posting stuff on Facebook. They seem to really know their stuff. I think the guy is called Lee.

Sorry I can't help more but I've been an admirer of these cars rather than an expert.

Simon Automotive in Germany are also good for parts if very expensive.

Then there's a guy called Dellboy who is also a source of parts but rumour has it he trades GTA parts for body organs.

Thanks for getting back to me so soon. Its not actually mine, its going to be a present for my Dad as he is a huge fan for everything alpine, so a bit of a time crunch. Agreed £4,000 for the re paint, the guy doing it comes well recommended and I've seen his work, its by no means cheap but will look the dogs doodahs when done. I'll have a look and see what I can find on owners sites. I think its going to come down to just the rubbers being removed as no one will touch the glass. Just the back square glass (easily removable) is £1,000 - down from £1,500. Thats the only glass I can find for sale too.

Hi

I too am an owner of a GTA turbo. The headlight covers can be bought from RATS as mentioned above. Think they're around £300 for the pair as I had a set recently. Like you though, my car was resprayed recently and the windows have been bonded in and no seals used.

If you can't be bothered with painting one for £4000, consider buying mine all done for cheap!! :-)

Cheers Chris

Haha thanks Chris, after driving it I would certainly consider buying one for myself! I shall have a look at RATS
