Hi all

I've just purchased a 2004 1.4 Xsara hatchback. V good nick. Only thing wrong with it is the offside passenger door won't open.bloke tells me it's only recently gone like that, which may or not be true.

Anyway I see that it's an mot fail if any of the doors won't open, so it need to get fixed, even though I could probably live with it as it is.

Anyway as this is a 300 quid car I don't want to spend the earth on it so have been looking on eBay for locking mechanisms. There are loads from scrappys which have come from Xsara Picasso vehicles but very few for bog standard xsaras.

Might be s dim question but would the rear lock mechanism from a Xsara Picasso be the same as a bog standard Xsara ? If so that is very good news as I can pick up a lock for 9 quid on eBay if the Picasso one will fit.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Unlikely, I'd have thought.

But, for a tenner, it's gotta be worth a try.

It won't fit. If you can't find one in a scrappy locally or on eBay, try breakerlink.com. Failing that, find an owners group on facebook and there is likely someone breaking one.

Thanks guys much appreciated. I've found this one on eBay and I think the one I've just purchased is a mk 2 so hopefully will fit and sort it!

Im picking the car up on Wednesday so before I buy the part I'll try the system reset first by disconnecting the battery. I think you can also force the system to hard reset by locking it with a door open so will try that too
