Hi All

First time posting in the "French Bred" section so please be gentle with me wink

After a bit of advice on the MiL's 58 plate 207 (I'm trying to earn me some brownie points!!)

I've tried researching on line but the problems only seem to be about loss of power, not the engine dieing..

I'm going to look at the car in the next couple of days and after some help/guidance/advice please..

The car broke down yesterday, whilst driving on the dual carriageway the engine died, completely cut out.

My MiL cruised to a stop, hazards on etc. Tried to restart the car, nothing, not turning over at all, engine dead, however ignition lights all on fine. No stop/warning lights showing.

AA man arrives, can't diagnose the problem and says "there is no spark to the engine"!!

So he brings her home. Ignition still works when turned on, but nothing when the key is turned, no turn over, nothing, as it the engine is dead.

On board computer only says "Economy mode" so no problems here, apart from saving battery power.

As I say, plenty on line about loss of power, but I can't find anything about the engine completely cutting out, and nothing when turning the key.

Any help appreciated..

Cheers

Hi

Seems strange the AA man claims there is no spark to engine when its not cranking.

Hi Mick

Yep, strange to me too, tbh I just think didn't want to fully investigate and wanted to get out of the sun and get the car moved!

There was no hard shoulder or run off area on the dual carriageway so they were effectively blocking the lane. You can imagine the abuse that was hurled at them by passers by!! She was with her sister at the time.

Cheers
Mike
