yeah have to say I agree
if I had the car where I grew up on roads I know id prob really love it
but I only have mountain roads here with no speed cameras
and I don't know the roads and any mistake would be death
plus like u said grunt it lacks the pull when going up hill or in a straight line
all about carrying that speed round a corner/track
I have not owned mine long. It sure is nippy in the twisty bits and I like that I can leave it in 6th in low speeds also when not pushing hard.
For straight line grunt it's average and would get blown away by a big German saloon.
I have not taken it on track but have been up against track prepared Clio cup cars in my 325 hp fiat coupe. They leave me in the bends then I blow them away on the straights.
So far I am enjoying it. But not thrashed it yet.

I've got a 197 which is near enough the same car.
Pros:
Equipment - keyless entry, panoramic sunroof, xenons, anti-hijack locks
Looks - when lowered with spacers/low offset wheels the car looks great for a hot hatch
Handling - Don't think I need to say anymore!
Performance - really not as bad as it's made out to be on the straights. But it could do with more power
Reliable - Not many problems apart from the common ones
Brakes - 4 pots brembos and 300mm rear discs? Overkill for the car and I love it!
Cons:
Cold starts - can be lumpy/jerky to drive until warmed up. Throttle response is severely reduced (for emissions I think)
MPG - It's terrible for the power on tap. Getting sub 16 mpg around town but is not bad on a long motorway run

16mpg? If have that sold in a flash and be buying something that warrants that kind of economy. They're not quick enough or special enough (to me at least) that id be happy putting up with that.
Never knew they were that bad, they're as bad as my old Evo's and they were quick.
My thoughts exactly! Unfortunately insurance was the biggest factor. V8s and 2.0+ turbos were out the question. And I really couldn't stand driving around in a 60 bhp 206 anymore! Although i'm lucky in the sense I do less than 5000 miles per year. Never knew they were that bad, they're as bad as my old Evo's and they were quick.
16mpg? Somethings wrong with your car, I am by far and and way the worst economy driver and mine did 21mpg around town and short journeys. I did get it down to 4mpg though around Oulton Park.
Best thing to do with one is stick some semi-slicks on one and take it around some b-roads or small/tight circuits. That 200cv (usually more like 180ish hp) feels like a lot more when they carry so much speed around corners than anything else with a roof.

driving mine from Geneva to nice after work today
big test as a all rounder checked coolant and is full but is orange water not green
green is the correct Renault coolant right ?
and mine does about 28mpg ...rarely driven hard
I regularly drive mine across France - 700 mls in a day is a breeze on the autoroutes, with a couple of stops for coffee and fuel. Cruise set to 140 kph and 28-30 mpg.big test as a all rounder checked coolant and is full but is orange water not green

your not gonna like this but I was really craving a tdi golf or something
is yours a cup
mine just feels quite brutal and the steering is break neck sensitive
but I did like the feeling of it cornering flat on those windy fast auto routes
mines for sale if you know of anyone who's interested
its on auto scout now @ 11k chf ;-)
