I have just handed back a 208 1.2 liter 3 cylinder hire car. What an outstanding little motor. When I first fired it up I groaned at the thrum of the 3 pot and expected to have to thrash it along the M4 to get anywhere. I was wrong. This engine has got a ton of guts, right through its range. Sounds great too. Even at motorway speeds it was begging to be pushed. The handling was spot on too, and I guess the weight saving of a 3 pot helps this. Bags of fun to be had. The whole thing seemed very well screwed together too. Really took me by surprise.

Just saying.

I'm running a 3008 as my demo at the moment with the turbo version of that engine. Goes pretty well.

I bet it does. Fuel economy was also terrific.

Funny, I was thinking that one of these could be a decent replacement for the other halfs Corsa C 1.2 if ever it packed in. Probably a hell of a lot more fun to drive too.

Good to hear, we're looking to replace the OH Mazda 2 with a 208 allure (active +? the trim levels confuse)
She want's a 1.4 though, had a look at the 208 GTI in the dealer just for a nose looks cracking!

That engine is a pretty decent one-it was launched shortly before I left Citroen and I drove several C3's with it. Sprightly, torquey and economical-just what a small car needs, much better than their godawful collaboration with BMW that resulted in the EP.

Evening.
Just picked up a 1.0 3 cylinder for my son.
Had it serviced but they don’t replace the plugs.

I find though from say 2200 to 2800 rpm there’s a big flat spot then it’ll pick up at 3000 rpm.

As it’s a long time for me driving a 1lt I’m not sure being 3 clyinder if this issue is to do with the plug or coil packs or it’s just the way. It’s on 89k miles btw.

I've just recently chopped in my DS DS4 with the 130BHP version of the 1.2 3 Cylinder. I said from day one that the engine was a peach. Just a shame that the rest of the car was rubbish.

Apologies if you've covered this in another thread, but do you mind me asking what went wrong with the DS4? I'd planned to buy one when they were first launched, paid the deposit for a "la Premiere" DS4 but the dealership were terrible to deal with - they lost my order and I kept chasing where the car was ... then they wanted to change the price retrospectively and cut the spec at the same time ... in the end I just walked away; but curious as to what the car would've been like. Only ever seen 1 in the wild!
