It's due a cambelt

3rd/4th Gear syncro is a common problem. My car has the later gearbox

Steering racks can need replaced



Aside from that. They're suprisingly robust.

Later cars sorted out the gearbox and don't think they have issues with steering racks. There's a few 2008 cars for £500-1000 more on eBay and autotrader. They're difficult to shift on quickly so don't be afraid to haggle.

I'm fairly certain that later cars continued to suffer with gearbox issues. Well, judging by the chap who had his 11k old 200 on the back of a trailer at the dealer whilst mine was sat on the forecourt with no 'box in it
