Megane 225 - 2005- non-Cup info
Discussion
Hi guys,
I'm looking for a non-diesel daily that has a bit of poke and keep coming back to 225s. I know the early ones had horrible steering and a few other faults, but how are the post-2005 non-cup suspension cars?
I've read that the cup suspension is quite harsh and unforgiving which would drive me bonkers in a daily, but at the same time I don't want a standard one if it's a soggy pile of rubbish.
I know the R26 is the one to go for if you want the best incarnation, but they're a bit out of budget.

Bumping your thread because I'd be interested as well. I'd like an R26 but think it might be annoying day to day although you do get an LSD I believe? I don't think I'm a good enough driver to exploit that 99% of the time though to be honest...
I'd secretly like a 225 five door (getting old I think!) with full leather since I discovered some of them have heated seats.

Am also looking at these. In fact have put a deposit down on a late 2006 car.
It handles well, the steering is light but not atrocious. The r26s with the diff were also out of my budget but I don't think I'll miss it most of the time. Looking forward to getting it and I'll know soon enough if it was the right call. £2k cheaper than the equivalent golf or Audi and it feels more turbo-charged than the very linear TFSI which is a positive for me.
