Citroen C1/ Pug 107 - Higher mileage or CatD
Discussion
I'm looking to buy a C1 or a 107 from my mother-in-law to replace an organically decomposing ford KA.
We've decided the 2012 models of both (107 Allure or C1 VTR) with the DRL lights are a good idea to make sure she is seen , given she lives in a coastal place famed for the fact the majority of road users and pedestrians are pensioners. I'd rather they saw her.
These cars seem to get written off as Cat D very easily, with relatively modest damage - bumpers and bumper bars, bonnnets and wings. No structural panels they all say. A 2012 model with 8k miles can be had for under £4k while cars without such a blemished past are 20% more and have 4x the mileage.
So my dilemma is which should I buy?
I doubt it will be needed to be resold in the next 6 years, so the stigma of a Cat D is not a problem.
Anyone had any bad experinces with Cat D C1's or 107s??

I think having a CAT D can effect your ins premiums so just check this 1st. I've just sold a 2012 107 Allure (A/C, DRL. ipod etc) 3 door with 10k on it. I found it quite hard going at around £4.8k and eventually dropped the price to £4.4k, (trade in and WBAC @ £4k) so don't be afraid to haggle.
I think some dealers have had these in stock for a while at premium prices, while the finance deals on the 108 have recently knocked the market.
A shame mine's gone just a few weeks too late.

careful of cat d, as panels not to cheap second hand, and very hard to sell on in time, and any future insurance claim can come back at anything from 50-75% less the normal value.
a neighbour had a cat d ,a 2004 clio dci {paid £2800 at the time}. unknown to him when bought it,when his daughter crashed it he was paid out £600,as they stated it was a cat d car would't pay out the full value.
