My wife has a Citroen DS3 which was bought new Christmas 2013. The car is yellow with a black roof, she was washing it yesterday and called me to point out what she had noticed on the roof, paint is actually lifting in small patches revealing the yellow underneath. Not good for a six month old car and needless to say I will be retrospectively calling the dealer tomorrow.

Have any other member experienced this problem? I suspect or assume they paint these cars in the one colour on the production line and take the shell to another section of the manufacturing plant to vary the colour patterns on offer with the fashionable colour matching choices. I also suspect that the varying colours are simply just sprayed over the top of the manufactured colour without any primer hence us seeing the yellow coming through.

According to Citroens website all cars are covered by a 3 year paintwork warranty however, it's the hassle of taking the car in knowing that the dealer from which we purchased the vehicle does not have a body/paintwork shop so subcontracts the work out to a local repairer and a chance of being without a car whilst the work is being performed. May consider taking it to another Citroen dealership but then it would be miles away and we won't know their reputation for repairing/paintwork

The different colour on the roof is actually achieved by wrapping, Mrs Saleen has a DS3 in red with a black roof and that has tiny areas that have the rad showing through.

Interesting. Personally I'd start by contacting the dealer who supplied the car, if possible.

Actually according to Citroen it is not wrapped its actually painted to order through a two part process in thier manufacturing plant.

Well yes that it the obvious procedure for which I havee followed. They have drafted a quote for the repairs along with photographs which they have advised me will be sent to Citroen for approval in order that they get an order number to perform the work however, they also advised that this can take up to 4 weeks which I found annoying/ In the age of electronic communication multi million pound International companies cannot make a decision and reply within a few days? rubbish
