Megane 225 cup or not?
Discussion
Hi all
I've just been to see a megane with a view to buying it but I'm not sure if its a cup or not?
What are the exterior differences? It is not advertised as a cup and has no decals, however, it has the anthracite wheels and wing mirrors, and has brembos.
While looking through the history folder, on some invoices it is referred to as a cup but on others it is not.
It has full leather and air con but IIRC these were available on the cup as options?
What other ways are there of checking?
Cheers

What year car is it? Do you have a link to it? Or any pics?
The post facelift cups had red calipers with drilled discs as standard.
The cup also came without climate which was standard on all the other cars I think. They just have air con. The traction control stays off above 30mph as well- i'm sure the normal 225s turned back on above this speed.
I'm sure there's lots more.
My Cup said "Cup" in the V5 too if you saw this, but not in the online insurance check.

Hard to say from those pictures but I'd say no that is not a cup as it has climate control like my R26 which I didn't think was availanble on cup models. The anthracite mirrors are not standard either as these were only available on the R26. Only way to check is the V5. Get the owner to send a photo of it to you.

I'd agree with this except the mirrors- the Cup cars DID come with grey mirrors. So it's not a Cup(as I said, all post facelift Cups come with red Brembos as standard). I don't think you could option Climate, though I think you could add the Lux pack.
The Autotrader ad would automatically say Cup when you put the reg plate in too.
Does it have Xenons?
And here is the link to the 2006 Cup that PH had(note the silver calipers, but no climate):

Best way to make sure is see if the traction control comes back on above 30mph.

So, I've done a bit of digging, it is not a cup, however it has cup wheels, wing mirrors. The TC stays off over 30 same as the cup and it has drilled discs and Eibach springs as per cup spec.
Ive been in touch with Renault UK who are going to send me the original spec sheet for the car, but what they believe is that its a normal RS 225 with the Cup chassis option and the other cup goodies fitted as standard
All in all, i think I've got the best of both worlds, the cup chassis but with the added creature comforts like full leather and climate.

That sounds like a bloody awesome combination. Ive been in touch with Renault UK who are going to send me the original spec sheet for the car, but what they believe is that its a normal RS 225 with the Cup chassis option and the other cup goodies fitted as standard

I'm ruminating on a Cup as my next car, can I ask a favour? I know it's boring, but what kind of economy do you get from the instant readout on a 50-60mph cruise? I've about a 60 mile/day commute, most of which is gentle A-roads.
