My wife's Grand Picasso broke down today, the dash was reporting issues first with the brakes and then with the gearbox.

We have spoken to a mechanic that has tried to run some diagnostics on the car but sadly his garage was not equipped to deal with these sorts of issues, but he was able to find that there is a common fault with the ECU on 2007 and her car falls into this category.

Does anyone know if it possible to somehow reset the ECU or would it need to be replaced?

Alternatively can anyone advise on how best to deal with the issue? Or of places/people I can get it fixed by?

We are in the Harrow/Wembley area.

@megamaniac: Thanks for the suggestion, but I really need somewhere that's closer to home, the car is not mobile at the moment.

We found a specialist in the Finchley area, it was transported there yesterday by the RAC, should find out tomorrow what the problem is, but right now it looks like it needs a new ECU.
