Greetings to the Forum members.

A good friend has some issues with her 207CC and this is even stamping the dealer. I was hoping the forum members would have some ideas.

This is the 207cc 1.6L Turbo 150PS. June 2007 registration.

So this is the issue. Often on engine start this message appears in the panel "Exhaust System defect. Max 2-3000 RPM possible." If you try several restarts the message will clear and be gone sometime for several restarts, sometime on the next restart.

Dealer has re flashed the ECU, but sees no other issues yet the problem persists. Anyone out there got any ideas?

Many thanks in advance.

Best guess would be some parameter that is close to being out of tolerance and not putting up a permanent fault code, possibly an egr or oxygen sensor issue as it is suggesting an exhaust problem.Although you could try an engine flush and oil change to rule out gummed up cam followers, like the 2.0 engines suffer from as these put up all sorts of spurious faults.

that'll be the ep 1.6 twin cam petrol with the variable cam timing and variable valve lift engine then. very very common for the valve timing to slip on these, the cams are chain driven and the sprockets don't have a keyway there just held in place by a stretch bolt. when these slip its usually only slight and register odd and confusing faults into the ecu.
all peugeot main dealers should have the tool set for doing these as its on the mandatory tools list.
