Taken delivery of my Clio 200 Cup today and first impressions are good, I have had a 197 and 200 before so knew what to expect, however, this time the car is just a track day tool and I felt the brakes were a little spongy.

So, does anybody have any experience of the standard brakes on track, are they resistant to fade??

Are there any good brake kit upgrades, and any reputable spanner men around the Leics/Notts area peeps would recommend?

the standard brakes are good but really not cut out for pure track work, i would recommend something like 330mm grooved discs (cazan racing?), mintex m1155 pads, HEL braided lines and motul rbf660 fluid. I'm running this setup on my 197 bar the bigger discs and taking it on track for the first time next weekend at donington.

+1

Change the fluid and pads at minimum I'd say, you can decide on if the rest is needed or better spent on sticky tyres which is when they really become fun biggrin

The racing cars used ferodo DS1.11 or something like CL RC5/6 are a good pad.

I'm free to test the car btw..... miss mine :')

Well after a day at Bedford the standard brakes although a little spongey and a lot of pedal travel before any significant braking was achieved they worked perfectly all day over around 100 miles of track work.

I have now decided to take my Clio project on a level smile

GJ smile a fluid change should mostly help with the pedal feel, though if you're used to overly assisted brakes they will always feel a bit lacking in initial bite. Again some better pads will also help with bite as the oem pads aren't very aggressive.

Oulton/Cadwell, Brands are some great fun tracks to try with the Clio too as they suit it to a tee.

All three are on my list especially Brands Hatch, thanks for the tips!
