My Michelin Pilot Sport 3's on the front are all but shot and with an MOT coming will need to be changed - recommendations please?

Also when I let go of the steering wheel the car veers quite significantly to the left - I know road camber can contribute to this but it feels like there's something amiss. Any clues?

TIA

Goodyear Eagle F1. Great tyres.

My car also pulled to the left- it was worse when the tyres were low and got about 90% better with the new rubber.

Could be other things though- hub bearings for example.

I went through the tyre dilemma recently and came to the conclusion that the 'best' tyre is extremely subjective as to your situation and requirements.

For an every day road tyre you can't go wrong with the Eagle F1's BUT from review I've read what once was king has been slightly surpassed over all somewhat by for example the Continental SC 5's. (They also have VERY soft side walls, with the side effects that makes, some +ve some -ve)

The main thing for me was dry grip and over all handling, I ended up ordering some Vredesteins Ultrac Vorti but in reality on a group test of tyres it came 8th!! But it's all so marginal if you read into it.

You know how you drive and how the car is used best so if you read this ( http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2013-Auto-Exp... ) and make your decision or a short list from that. Check prices and decide which one weighs up best with your man maths smile

I'm having the same dilemma, was planning to go for the Eagle F1's.

Does anyone know what Renault stuck on them when new?

Dunlop Sportmaxx I think(235/40 18 for R26 and Cup models). The latest Dunlops do pretty well in most tests- the new Clio 200 comes with them standard.

FWIW, I went from (admittedly very worn) Dunlops to the F1's, and the F1's were much, much better, especially in the wet(cornering and straight line traction).

Thanks chaps.

FYI my car was originally supplied with Michelin Pilot Sport 2's which have been superseded by the 3.

I have been very happy with them and looking at the tyre test I may well go with them again if the price is competitive.

No ... it was Michelin PS2's, which are now very hard to come by so I have F1's on my R26 and will be replacing them shortly with F1's again

I posted about the PS2 2 posts above yours!

I assume the Eagle F1 suits the car then??

I collected my car on Falkens, then fitted Michelin PS3s and now running the latest Eagle F1. For me the Michelin was superior in feel, outright grip and longevity on track - i'll be going back to Michelins again next time.

Yokohama AD08, despite their looks and grip they last a VERY surprising amount of miles!

The SS is a little more extreme than the PS2. The PS2s were a great tyre. Great for road and track use. They don't seem to have a direct replacement, though the SS seemed to be the spiritual successor.

My choice would be the Eagle F1 for fast road use. It'll cope with the occasional trackday too, but it won't last as long as some other tyres (the PS2 for example). The F1 have a great rim protector on them too and I've found them brilliant in wet weather.

Yeah I think they suit most hot hatches for fast road use and the occasional track day. The wet grip when cornering is very impressive. As you can see from the above comments, one chap prefers the PS3's but another recommends the F1's ... it's all personal preference. One thing I do know is that the PS2's were far superior than the PS3's in regards to overall grip. I'd recommend the Eagle F1's for sure.
