What is the general consensus? Or should I say "please talk me out of it" laugh
I always fancied one as a garage ornament cool

one more question, were the RHD Rallyes yellow?

cheers

I've always loved the look of these! I'm sure more knowledgeable people on here can correct me where I go wrong, but the UK spec Rallyes were essentially a stickered up lower spec model.

I had a 205 XS which had the closer ratio box and slightly more poweful 85hp TU3S engine which was great fun on road rallies!

The ultimate Rallye is the one sold on the continent only which has the TU2 engine, but they must be as rare as hen's teeth now....

Great little cars. Mine was exactly the same as in the picture. I think the UK ones had 75bhp and came in Yellow and White. Loads of fun to drive, and mine took a battering. I managed to crash it twice but a few parts from the scrappy and it was good as new.

Unfortunately the UK 205 Rallye is nothing more than a sticker special with a boat anchor iron block out front, where the XS was actually the superior car. In Europe they got the real deal with the TU24 engine, which later became the TU2J2 in the 106 Rallye, albeit with a different cylinder head. Although plenty of the uk 205 R's have now been modified with engines borrowed from 106's, but it's just not the same as they're also missing the required suspension and brakes as std.

For me it has to be the 106 Rallye as we really did get the proper car second time around, but then I am biased! wink

As far as performance is concerned an XS would be better than a UK Rallye. I can't speak highly enough of the continental, 'proper' 205 Rallye though, mostly as I own one!
This is mine:

Unfortunately mine doesn't have the proper air ducts in the front valence but as it was supposedly used in French rallying and some other battle scars, I think I know why this would be! It's currently sitting in the garage in pieces frown
