Just picked up a (for pennies) 1999 406 1.9td estate with 133k to smoke for a few months.

What are these like generally? Anything major to watch for?

They are great my 1999 one has done 190k, the space inside with the seats down puts more modern estates to shame. I got it when my citroen bx got smashed, I maintain it myself recently the alternator went and I picked one up off ebay £20 with free postage a lot can be said for running a S**ter!.

Encouraging. I'm going to drive it for a while and see how it goes. If it proves reasonably reliable I may punt on my Yaris before it's worth nothing and take a year out of the 406.

The 1.9 engine is bombproof, I`ve had 2 405`s a 406 and now a berlingo, all with the 1.9 diesel. The turbo diesel is of course more responsive but slightly more thirsty. I`ve put 200 thou on the clock with the 1.9 and i`d have another tommorow thumbup
