My wife's car had a few lights pop on this morning. She was near to Renault (where the car has been regularly serviced and fixed, often) They have said the fuel pump is breaking up and with cost £3844 to fix. Anyone else know if this a common fault?

I seem to recall this popping up over on ClioSport.net not that long ago.

Pretty sure there was a picture from inside the tank full of metal shavings too!

Part does not require coding so can be done by anyone. To get that price you have to send the faulty one back.

Cheers but ours is an 09 and all needs coding. Have come up with a different plan and won't be my problem anymore. Renault have said they found 2 pieces of swarf and offered to pay 55%. The problem is th car has spent more team in the dealership than on the road and we are sick of it.

nice of them to pay 55%! but still nearly 2k, 1.5dci pumps fail quite often,as they are made of chocolate i.e rubbish.try another specialist job should be no more the £900-£1000 with a new pump.

Cheers for the advice but with all the other stuff the car wasn't worth it. Did the minium of flush and filter change. Ran it for a week with no more problems so will be part vexing it.
