Hi guys!

Posted this in French section but very quiet.

Anyway yes I am on about a clio no group b monster!

Just put a deposit on my perfect spec car, absolutely perfect car except the brake peddle is soft.

Wondering what you guys think maybe the cause is and if there are any horror stories! (Which I am 99.9% there arn't)

Anyway, best course of action? Bleeding brakes, changing pads, checking calibration? Usually these cars have a very hard brake peddle which I want!

Anyway thanks guys

Matthew

If it's a dealership, tell them to fix it before purchase.

Hoping it's a simple fix I negotiated it into a low final price.

So that's not an option anymore.

Muahahahaha >=D

But OT, the brakes of the mk3 Clio are very good but do require a bit of maintenance now and then. I'd recommend a fluid change and (if actually needed) just some new pads (oem ones are generally fine and pretty cheap). The feel of the pedal does change quite a bit as the pads get thin.
Remember the brakes have very little assistance on these things too so that might contribute to the whole thing.

It depends on how the cars been used, but the fluid could be trashed and been through a few too many heat cycles.

They also need regular cleaning, again dependant on us but couple times a year it's a good idea to strip and clean them as they have a tendancy to clog up.

So give it some new fluid and pads and see how it feels then.

Hey guys I did say no group b fun here! Although if I do find one, will have more important things to talk about out than brake feel! POOOOWWWAAAAA

And yeah the brembo's on the 2010+ rs200's are meant to be very good.

I shall go through fluid and pad change I think one at a time. Hopefully shall eliminate the problem. Has been very well looked after overall, but 3 years old no surprise if pass fluid need changing!

Thanks for the usual reply!

Suggest you also post or have a look at the RenaultSport forum. Having said that the brakes should be firm and very responsive, I've never had an issue or doubt about them in almost 4 years and 35k miles or so.

Echo above. Brakes should be sharp and firm.

Add in braided lines, 330mm discs and some good pads and you won't need reverse!

I cooked the stock fluid in my Megane after a trackday. The brakes were noticeably spongier afterwards. I replaced it with some RBF600 fluid and the difference was night and day. The pedal feel returned and it's been great ever since. Different car and brakes obviously, but the same theory may well apply.
