Renault hands free microphone issue.

Hi Guy's picked up my new to me RS Megane DCI at the weekend.
loving every minuet of it. however I have a problem with the hands free.
everything syncs with my galaxy s3 and is fully functional. however there is no sound output from the microphone during calls. I can hear them fine both in coming and outgoing. I've also tried it with the wife's I phone its the same. its like the mic is ether muted or not plugged in. yet i cant find a volume/mute setting in the menu. only the on hold function.
i also cant see where the mic would connect to the stereo, so figured it may be connected elsewhere.
any help would be much appreciated.
