Evening all,

Just did the front ball joints on my 306 as they were a fail on the MOT. All completed but when dismantling I noticed they didn't have any heat shield to go between the brake disk and the rubber of the ball joint - which I think is why they were knackered.

Other cars I have owned had them but I'm new to 306's, does anybody know if they are meant to have them and if so where I can find some (new or second hand - whatever's easiest).

the car is an x-reg 306 HDI estate if that helps - don't judge me it is used as the work horse!

Thanks!
Phil

I'm pretty sure (very sure) thay should have heat shields. I did a clutch on a 306 the other week, and that had them on there. That was an X reg as well.

Ok cool, I thought as much.ball joints are on now so it can stay that way and see how long they last. Done 175k so may blow up before they are ruined anyway.

I'll speak to my local dealer and see if they can get any and how much, otherwise I guess its a trip to the scrappy/make some from sheet metal when thy need doing again.

They are supposed to have them but tend to get mashed if you use a fork type splitter and are usually made entirely of rust. Got some from Peugeot last time and they weren't expensive - can probably find the part number if your struggling?

If you have the part number that would be much appreciated, otherwise I can just nag my local dealer to find out smile
