Hi

I am passing my beloved 205 gti to my brother and the Clio 182 seems like a worthy replacement. Just wondering what I should be expecting to pay for a Artic Blue full fat 182 with approx 50 000 to 60 000 on the clock?

So far I have budgeted £4000 with a £1000 buffer to redo the steering wheel and possibly the exhaust.

Could you not stretch around the £6k mark to a Trophy? im pretty sure there are some cheaper than that too for higher miles

Thought about the Trophy but a little out of my price range and I'm not a fan of the colour.

What do you think of these two?

Belts are probably the most important thing, they should have all been done by now.

I would say 4k would get a very nice 182, as previously said the belts are the big expense, they should be done at this age/mileage.

Trophy would not be much different on the budget, I have one that has done 59k and I think 4k would get you one, although the dampers are an extra cost on the Trophy as they can be expensive to refurbish. I only bought mine as a short term fun car but am spending some money on it as I think it is a keeper now (hopefully they will go up in value!)

Look sound.

I wouldn't pay more than £3-£3.5K for one and the history/type of owner is more important than the mileage.

Don't be tempted with an early 197. A step back and a time bomb for reliability.

I've never heard an early 197 being called a time bomb before?

Clio 197/200: light the blue touch paper and step away.......

The exicitment comes from not knowing if you have the Long or Short Fuse.

why are you trying to start arguments with owners on here? and just with french cars so trying to select a small group of people to annoy, i dont really get it?

What's it got to do with you?

Just gave the guy some advice on the great little 182 and as his budget is close to potential tempting 197 territory.

Where's your input to the 182 topic?

they are nice cars and i would recommend wither a 182 or early 197 but you still havent answered my question as to why you are being a bit of a cocksucker.

There is a certain website (which I wont mention) that blindly praises the 172/182 as the fastest car on the road rolleyes

Everyone knows a 1.4 Clio is faster than a supercharged Clio 197 with 360 bhp.

Either way if 'matt' actually new his stuff he'd know early 197's are known to NOT suffer the same issues as later/facelift cars that he loves to harp on about...
