Discussion
Hi All,
I'm an imposter from the TVR wedge forum (own a 390SE) and just thought I'd say hello as I am now the proud owner of a 1986 Renault 5 GT Turbo
You'll have to excuse me as I'm going through a mid life crisis (I'm 41 !!!) and have always hankered after an r5 gt turbo
She's a beauty and I'll post some pics soon
I'm sure I'll have lots of questions for you r5 experts so hope you kind people can help
Kind Regards
Ian

Other than a Ktec exhaust (will change that if I can source an original standard one) it is an unmolested phase 1.5 (has the newer intercooled turbo engine).
Love it
Great little toy, the acceleration and handling are awesome
that's ph1 and very rare to find an original looking one like that. They were all intercooled btw. in the best colour too!Love it

Not sure, engine wise, there was any difference between the ph1 and ph11 other than the earlier car had to go back to the dealer several times for anti percolation mods which I assume were fitted as standard on the ph11. It really was one of the first cars that had fans running on for ages after the engine stopped- neighbours used to knock my door and inform me that I have left the engine running.
As for the intercooler... on the French trip the above photo was taken, when the car was only a few months old, the intercooler popped its top under acceleration away from a motorway toll gate near Pau. Needless to say finding a new one even in France was impossible but luckily the race series on the bill at the Pau F2 (or was it F3000 by then?) grand prix and one of the teams helped me out with some jubilee clips wrapped around it to keep it together.
Best club to join will be the Renault Turbo Owners club: http://www.rtoc.org/ I am sure someone there can answer the decals question, don't get tempted into modding though, please!
