Good video, thinking about selling my Trophy next month. I have had it 3 and a half years, just fancy a change

Have shocks been rebuilt?

Bought mine after reading the Evo car of the year write up in 2005.

So much fun! and a nice exploitable level of performance for the road.

Always enjoy Harry's diaries, and he is basically doing what I dream about, having a garage full of cars where some are expensive and some are just cult classics.

This particular vid has had me in the classifieds looking at those currently for sale.

Me too, genuinely regret selling it. Regularly check the classifieds to see if it's for sale. By far the most enjoyable car I've driven on the road. As someone above said, the performance and handling were in perfect harmony.

Didnt like mine. Terrible ride, poor brakes and not that quick.

Chopped it for an R26 megane, much better car.

Still love my Trophy - albeit I'm having terrible thoughts of chopping it in for something I can actually lug my guitar/gigging gear around in (thinking a fast estate like a Volvo T5 variant or Saab 9-5 Aero HOT).

Surprised that you didn't like it that much clarki - I came via Focus ST, Civic Type R and lastly an R26 (not an R admittedly) but found it much more capable than any of my previous cars. Mind you, the shocks on mine had been rebuilt so can't comment on ride and I'm running decent Brembo discs/DS2500 pads/fluid/lines etc. and that made a noticeable difference to when I first got it. Normal rubber it hauls up fast but on AD08s with the brakes it hauls up faster than anything else I've experienced.

Only thing that grates is the fact it's also my daily, hence the thoughts of changing... it can't carry stuff to my gigs and although the Orbisound exhaust sounds amazing, it grates on a longer journey as it's just loud enough to be intrusive, but not loud enough to be obscene. Thing is... it's about to hit the magic 100k... and it's worth so little (in reality) that for the money it'd be a shame to change it!

Needs must though, and potentially a bike or race car in future, so I'd be getting my thrills that way instead (plus the estate would see me able to tow something sensibly).

Growing up sucks but perhaps I need to garage it and come up with money for a cheap estate elsewhere... biggrin

Just get a smaller rig, I can easily carry my guitar and amp in my 197. Also had my friends drum kit in the back of it yesterday for a 200 mile journey! smile

Fair enough. I'm comparing stock with stock, both from more or less new.

Dont get me wrong i'm a massive RS fan but tbh an R26 will run rings around a clio trophy, road or track, and not just because of the extra oomph, making it IMO a much more capable car.

I bought my Trophy after reading a lot of hype, but it just didnt live up to it. Bought the R26 just to get away from the clio - wow!! what a car that turned out to be. So good infact i bought another, which after nearly 5 years is still my pride and joy.

But hay, if you read all the press articles then what do I know, so just ignore me, i'm clearly completely wrong, lol.
