Peugeot 206 leaking steering rack.
Discussion
Hi guys
I have acquired a 2000 206 1.9D which has a power steering leak and was looking for advice. Had a poke around today and it's leaking from the rack itself.
I jacked it up and when turning the steering by hand it seems to be leaking from where part 1 in this diagram bolts onto the rack-its hard to tell exactly where but I could see fluid appearing as I worked the steering.
Has anyone got any experience of this? Is it possible to remove that part without dropping the subframe or do I need to man up, drop the subframe and pull the rack out?
Cheers
Brian

That`s the valve body. First you need to establish exactly where its leaking,is it shaft?the flange? or could be just loose pipes!!? Give it a thorough clean then check.
It is possible to remove the valve body in situ but very difficult to refit those valve body pipes.
More than likely it will be leaking from the input shaft? to be honest you may decide its better in the long term to bite the bullet and fit an exchange rack assembly. If you check around at places like GSF,Euro etc you can pick these up at very reasonable cost.
