just booking a hire car for France for:

me, OH and 6 year old daughter
2 big suitcases (hard not squidgy) , one small case

can I get this in a Fiat 500? The luggage will only be carried for a 1 hour journey to and from airport so cramped is ok as long as possible

thanks

Yes in the wrong forum, but to answer your question.

The 500 will accomodate about 5/6 bags of shopping. It will probably be suffice for the journey you are referring to.

You might struggle to get the luggage and the 6 year old in. Luggage should be ok but it'll require the rear seats folding, but then the 6 year old won't fit.

Load space isn't too bad with the seats folded, a colleague uses one to transport cameras, tripods, lights, dollies etc about, but that's with only the one front passenger.

The rear window of the 500 slopes, so standing the suitcases up might not be effective. However, you might also be able to get them on the back seat, but without actually trying it, I'm not sure.

Yes you will, with the rear seats folded flat and your daughter on the front seat. You can deactivate the front passenger airbag through the menu system. Buttons are mounted on the instrument binnacle.

Where's his other half (or him) going to sit? An hour's drive might be a bit much to have a six year old sat on someone's knee, although I appreciate some might be willing to put up with it.

Good point. No, it won't fit with 3 passengers!

Take suitcases to fiat dealer. Try it.

you have 3 people in a 4 seater car. Put suitcases on one rear seat.....of course it will all fit.

On some 500's the seats dont even fold flat, but even if they did it sounds like it would be touch and go to get it all in.

It probably isn't that much more expensive for a slightly bigger car. I'd save yourself the hassle and pay a bit more.

sorry, didnt see Fiat was in there with Alfa forum

thanks all - I managed to walk past one and peered inside - not a hope in hell of getting cases and family in - shame as I fancied a spin around in one - next size up is a boring Polo

If it has the split folding rear then you will be ok, a combination of the 3 cases in one of the rear passenger seats and boot
