Well I've had 2x 182's and I presume the faults would be similar.

Had the manifold to CAT ring snap twice
Cruise control switch fail (although fixed for free)
Brake pedal sensor fail (£15 for a new one, fitted in 2 minutes)
Exhaust rusting
Air flow sensor (or something likea that, was years ago) fail

So yeah there's a few things but nothing's very expensive to fit on these cars. Make sure it's had it's belts changed is one of the most important pieces of advice smile

Our 182 has been pretty reliable for the last 2 years, experienced a lot of the common problems - rusty exhaust and clamps, washer motors (£6 each on Ebay), a broken CV boot clip, and an airbag light (jiggle the connector under tha passenger seat to fix)

Do your research on the belts and what they will cost you to get changed. I saw a lot of cars with patchy service history, and dealers will totally BS you about it. Bank on 5-6 hours labour and ~£150 in parts to do it properly.

I had one from new 2001. The first month it was back at the dealers 50% of the time with water pump pulley issues - this returned a year or so later. Later in life there was a replacement of part of the exhaust due to a known issue. Was (sort of OK) as had 3 year warranty, and was dealt with under that.

My 172 daily driver has been great. In the two years I've owned it, I've only had to replace the radiator (took a massive stone on the M4), the cat (which was 9 years old) and the back box. In fairness, the back box was OEM and didn't do too badly considering it was over 4 years on the car. Other than that, it's just servicing and consumables. If you can get a good one that's been looked after and you continue to do so, they shouldn't let you down.
