My neighbour has got a 2003 model citroen c3 1.4 petrol and it failed to start one day , it was diagnosed by the dealer as adead ecu and they reckin she cant get a second hand one as they cannot be coded to her car .
Does anyone know if she could buy an ecu off a scrapper and have it coded to her car through an independant or or has she got to be ripped off by citroen ?

There is a firm called BBA Reman who can check the faulty unit and possibly repair it,however i have heard varying reports about them recently.
You could buy a bsi kit, often found on a well known auction site and fit the lot, including key and key reader. You will need to find the numbers on the bsi and ecm .

We have used these before http://www.ecutesting.com/ Did us a repair on an Astra G diesel pump ecu, and it came back with a 2 year warranty (not that we needed it) and prompt service as well

BBA have a terrible reputation in the trade. I recently replaced a 206 52 late with a decoded unit from ECU express, who I've used several times with happy results.

We as a garage use bba and up to now have had no issues and they sure have had some ecu's from us to test and repair, if you get a seconded hand ecu I could recode it for you.
