Anyone able to measure from the centre of the front wheel up to the edge of the wheel arch for me on their standard 106 GTI?

Would be much appreciated.

Do you still need this?

Are we assuming its the same gap all the way around?

I do, it would be a great help.

It's a bit of a long story but I just really need the height for the front. Although if you're going out with the measuring tape anyway I suppose we couldn't go wrong with front and rear.

I knew I wasn't putting my point across well, I meant from the centre of the rim to the edge of the arch in just one spot or do you want it from different angles. (I.E. measured at 12 o clock, 3 0 clock and 9 o clock)

I'll do it from all 3 for you, I'll get it done tomorrow. Curious what you need it for?

Ah, sorry. Just at 12 o'clock will be spot on thank you.

Pretty much just trying to work out how low the front of mine is so I can get my refurbished axle lowered to suit. Currently the back is lower then I would like and typically they should sit arse up a bit.

I've still got a 106 Haynes manual. There's good news & bad news.

The good news? In the suspension & steering section it specifies ride heights. For cars with 175/60 R14 H tyres, which I assume will be the GTi as that's the biggest tyre size quoted & the only H rated, the ride height is 154.0 mm.

The bad news? Nowhere can I see any reference to the datum points for ride height measurement!

hehe

Haynes is great, eh.

Thanks though, I'll have a look and see if I can work out where that measurement is taken.

Sorry this is late.

Unexpectedly, the centre of the wheel is 13 inches from the arch on all 4 corners.

It's completely standard and definitely has the aggressive 'front lower' look despite this.
